Launching April 30, the DLC adds city-based objectives, shifting public mood, and choices that can push Isandrin toward order or collapse.
The most exciting piece of news I’ll be sharing with you tonight, once again about Wartales, is that Shiro Games recently announced Wartales: Contract: Fires in the Capital, a new DLC for the open-world medieval tactical RPG, with the PC release scheduled for April 30th, 2026, on Steam.

The DLC sends the player to Isandrin; the Imperial Capital of Edoran (a city with a severe problem with internal strife, and a complete lack of law and order). This add-on will require the original base game, which was released on April 12th, 2023, and will continue Wartales’ unique blend of managing mercenaries, exploring an open-world environment, and engaging in turn-based battle tactics.
In contrast to the rural areas that are typically the environments of Wartales, fires in the capital takes the player into an urban area filled with instability.
Shiro Games describes Isandrin as having systemic unrest tracked throughout the city, creating unsafe streets, disrupting trade, limiting available contracts, and blocking off parts of the city to the player. This adds an element of complexity to what is expected of the player in Wartales.

While the player will still need to engage in battle to survive, they will also be tasked with hunting down bandits, removing hostile propaganda, funding charitable causes, and using a bard to sway the public opinion (each of these actions will contribute to either greater stability within the city or increase the likelihood of greater chaos).
As a result of this change in structure, the type of encounters the player will experience is also likely to change.
Contract: Fires in the Capital introduces a variety of urban-based encounter formats based on achieving objectives as much as surviving, such as tracking down fleeing suspects, protecting fragile supply convoys from continued attacks from enemies, and fighting through burning streets to rescue civilians.
